What to put in the message
Not a form to fill in — just the things that save a round of questions.
- 01The houseRoughly when it was built, and whether the walls are solid or have a cavity. If you are not sure, a photograph of a window reveal usually settles it — a thick reveal with no gap in it is a solid wall.
- 02What it doesCold rooms, damp, draughts, condensation on the windows, a room above a garage that never warms up. What it actually does that you do not like.
- 03How muchOne room, one wall, or the whole envelope. Whether anyone else is already working on it, and whether there is a designer or an assessor involved.
- 04WhenWhether you are ready to go or still working out whether it is worth doing at all. Both are fine.
Photographs help more than anything — a window reveal, a corner of the room that goes cold, and the outside of the house.
